24 Great Windmill St, London W1D 7LG
Speakeasy styled basement chophouse with a cool atmosphere.
A little inconspicuous matte jet black facade leading you down a set of step stairs on great windmill street is Blacklock. Although the understated facade you are dropped down into their little world which is filled with a light effervescent atmosphere. Styled like a speakeasy with the black painted walls and darked toned woods. It’s a creative chop house with a tight menu that's both on-brand yet very elegant.
Nothing displays this more than the pre-chop bites which are a little morsel of what is a fun and tasty food journey. Little sourdough crisps with an assortment of toppings which are balanced yet packed full of flavour.
The steak was cooked and charred expertly with the highlights being the sides of charred lemon and fennel salad and the barbecued baby gem lettuce with anchovy dripping. Both these sides really added a well rounded flavour to the steak.
From the summer negroni to the english riviera all were dangerously smooth and could have easily had a few more
The Alfred Guide Tip
